Native Louisiana craftsman Glen Armand grew up learning Armand family skills from his father Wallace Armand, and assisting his grandfather Florian Armand in his furniture shop after school. This helped plant the seed for third generation Louisiana craftsman Glen Armand to continue the Armand family tradition of crafting furniture.
Restoring antique furniture has given Glen the opportunity to learn design, construction, form, and finishing from the unheralded and distinguished master craftsmen of generations before. Utilizing this knowledge and experience, Glen has become one of Louisiana's most revered furniture craftsmen.
Using time-tested techniques and materials, Glen and his team of craftsmen create and build furniture and cabinets with the patience and tradition of old world masters.
Our company works with the knowledge, that each craftsman is creating an original hand crafted piece one at a time, just for you.
Glen Armand Furniture Inc. builds all types of furniture. This includes fine period antique reproductions, traditional, contemporary, art deco, Biedermeier, Louisiana Creole and Acadian style furniture. Our work can be seen in New Orleans at the Louisiana State Museum, The Cabildo (where the Louisiana Purchase Documents were signed), the International House Hotel, The Loft Suites Hotel, and in Baton Rouge throughout the Louisiana Governors Mansion as well as many fine homes throughout the country.
Located in the heart of Louisiana, our facility provides each craftsman their own bench to hand craft the selected wood of your choice into the furniture of your dreams. From here, your hand crafted furniture visits our finishing department to receive one of our beautiful hand rubbed finishes.
Our work does not stop here. After spending many hours crafting and finishing your furniture, we want it to arrive at your door in perfect condition. Each piece is blanket- wrapped for delivery to your door via our truck or can be crated and shipped nation-wide thru one of our shipping partners. Our limited lifetime warranty assures you that our commitment to quality has you in mind

Tales from Armand |
|
|
The Armand family roots in the Louisiana Purchase Territory begin in 1766 when Joseph Marie Armand, a native of Metz, France, along with all other Acadians, were deported from Acadia (Nova Scotia) by the British during the French and Indian War. Joseph Armand and his family eventually settled at Natchitoches Post, the northern most Spanish outpost on the Red River in the Louisiana Territory.
Josephs children grew up in Louisiana serving as a Senator, distinguished military officers, and leaders of the community in four different and unique parishes.
Josephs descendants from Avoyelles Parish were expert carpenters and craftsmen. This is the lineage that Native Louisiana Craftsman Glen Armand descends from.
The Armands, the History of the Armands in Louisiana, by Glen Armand, records the families history in Colonial Louisiana and chronicles the authors childhood where his craftsmanship skills were passed down from his father and grandfather. This book is available from the Author. |
